Mimi meets Kai

We introduced our little chihuahua Mimi to Kai this weekend. We were really nervous on what her reaction would be to him. She's a super affection dog with a very sweet disposition but you never know how an animal will react to such a big change. Thankfully, she just adores him. She's taken on a very maternal role with him and runs to him every time he makes even a squeak. She also does not like the idea of the cats going anywhere near him and chases them away anytime they try to enter the room.

Last Day at the Hospital [First Day Home]

We finally got to leave the hospital today. In Japan they require women to be hospitalized for five days after giving birth. It was nice to be so well taken care of but towards the end I found it a tad confining and was definitely ready to go home. Kai introduced himself to the outside world in a dapper little outfit from his Baba and Jiji.

We were taught how to give the babies bathes today and then were able to bathe Kai ourselves. Naoto came up with his rockin new do.

Baba and Jiji

Kai met his Baba (grandma) and Jiji (grandpa) today. The calligraphy is Kai's name [Ikeda Kai] and was written by my father-in-law.

Kai Finn Ikeda Arrives into the World

Our little man arrived into the world on Aug. 24, 2008 at 11:21 a.m. He weighted in at 7 pounds 2 ounces. There are absolutely no words to describe just how profound and amazing it was to see and touch him for the first time.

Konnichiwa

So we've been in Japan now for 2 years and have finally gotten our act together and started this blog. We thought this would be a nice way to keep everyone posted on what's going on with us and share some photos of Japan with all of you.

Right now we're anxiously awaiting the arrival of our baby boy. He should be making his grand entrance any day now. Overall the pregnancy has been a breeze it's just this home stretch that seems to be lagging. We just can't wait for him to arrive.
