Summer Vacation: Penang

We decided to continue our exploration of Malaysia with a trip to Penang. The inner part of George Town (the capital) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so we really wanted to check it out.   Overall, I really enjoyed the city. However, it wasn't as sleepy and unique as I envisioned it to be.  Definitely more modern than historic.

Off we go on a red-eye flight. Let the fun begin!

The beach was very nice for walking but we were a bit disappointed that there were no seashells to be had. The boys really enjoyed collecting them last year in Langkawi. Noah tried to compensate with rocks- but they really didn't compare.

This was the first time we opted to stay at a total kid friendly hotel, complete with a small water park. The kids has an amazing time and enjoyed it so very much. Naoto and I - hmm not exactly so much, but of course the vacation wasn't about us. We were smart to stay at two different hotels though- one for the kids and one that was more suited for vacationing adults.
